{"id":6307,"date":"2022-03-06T20:10:35","date_gmt":"2022-03-06T20:10:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/isoumare.org\/?p=6307&#038;lang=fr"},"modified":"2022-04-03T19:00:10","modified_gmt":"2022-04-03T19:00:10","slug":"book-launch-and-high-level-panel-discussion-on-commodity-exchanges-and-their-economic-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/isoumare.org\/en\/book-launch-and-high-level-panel-discussion-on-commodity-exchanges-and-their-economic-role\/","title":{"rendered":"Book Launch and High-level Panel Discussion  on \u201cCommodity Exchanges and their economic role\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, March 25, 2022, the launch of the book &#8220;<strong><em>Commodity Exchanges: Concepts, Tools and Guidelines<\/em><\/strong>&#8221; recently published by Professor Issouf Soumar\u00e9 of FSA ULaval, and a high-level panel discussion on the role of commodity exchanges in economic development took place simultaneously in <strong>Quebec City<\/strong>, <strong>London<\/strong>, <strong>Abidjan<\/strong> and <strong>Kigali.<\/strong>\u00a0Professor Issouf Soumar\u00e9 is the President-Founder of SOUMAR\u00c9 UNIVERSITY and INSTITUTE SOUMAR\u00c9 OF FINANCE.<\/p>\n<p>The high-level panel was composed of: <strong>Prof. Victor Murinde<\/strong>, Director of the Centre for Global Finance at SOAS University of London, <strong>Prof. James Eaves<\/strong>, Full Professor\u00a0 at FSA ULaval, <strong>Dr. Edoh Amenounv\u00e9<\/strong>, CEO of the Bourse R\u00e9gionale des Valeurs Mobili\u00e8res (BRVM, the Regional Securities Exchange) and the Central Depository\/Settlement Bank (DC\/BR) (West Africa), <strong>Dr. Mama Keita<\/strong>, Director of the East Africa Office of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and\u00a0<strong>Prof. Issouf Soumar\u00e9<\/strong>, Director of the Laboratory for Financial Engineering of Laval University and President-Founder of SOUMAR\u00c9 UNIVERSITY and the INSTITUTE SOUMAR\u00c9 OF FINANCE.<\/p>\n<p>During the roundtable, the high-level panel discussed the role of commodity exchanges in the economic development of emerging countries. The discussion focused on the optimal design of such exchanges and their operationalization, as well as their role in adding value to the commodity value chain.
