Laboratory for Financial Engineering of Université Laval (LABIFUL)
The Laboratory for Financial Engineering of Laval University (LABIFUL), founded in 2008 by its current Director Prof. Issouf Soumaré, is an excellence centre for research and training for the promotion and dissemination of financial engineering techniques and methods.
Web learning platform on “Understanding the financial services industry and products”
This innovative interactive web learning platform has been developed by Prof. Issouf Soumaré and Prof. Van Son Lai of Université Laval with the financial support of the Financial Market Authority of Quebec (AMF) in 2011-2012. The learning platform “Understanding the financial services industry”is a free-access online pedagogical portal with the following goals: (1) provide financial service consumers with a global vision on the functioning and governance (financial regulation) of the financial services industry, (2) educate them on the use of the available financial products and (3) teach them the basic notions of risk-return principles.
Africa Business and Entrepreneurship Research Society (ABERS)
Prof. Issouf Soumaré was one of the architects and a member of the Steering Committee for the creation of Africa Business and Entrepreneurship Research Society (ABERS) in 2012. The mission of the ABERS is to promote public understanding of business and entrepreneurship and the contribution it can make to public affairs and social issues in Africa. The ABERS is a scholarly society dedicated to the understanding and advancement of business and entrepreneurship in Africa, in a broad and inclusive sense. It includes within its constituency not only academic scholars and researchers in business, but scholars trained in other fields. It also embraces those with a general interest in the subject, and a commitment to the improvement and advancement of Africans through business and entrepreneurship.
Pan-African Institute on Economic and Financial Governance (IPAGEF)
The idea of the creation of the Pan-African Institute on Economic and Financial Governance (IPAGEF is its French acronym for “Institut panafricain de la gouvernance économique et financière”) goes back to 2012 with several initiatives from Prof. Charles Moumouni and Prof. Issouf Soumaré of Université Laval (Canada), in partnership with institutions in Côte d’Ivoire and elsewhere in Africa. IPAGEF’s mission is to deepen understanding of best practices and to contribute to the harmonization and standardization of good practices in economic and financial governance among African states in general, and in francophone Africa in particular, in order to improve their ranking in international governance.
Center of Experts for Services and Solutions Inc. (CESS Institute)
Prof. Issouf Soumaré is co-founder of CESS Institute, an independent applied research institute on development and poverty reduction issues. Its mission is to bring to private and public organizations “a new development vision” both at the theoretical and operational levels.
“Delivering inclusive financial development and growth” Project (2016-2020)
A consortium of partners, including Prof. Issouf Soumaré, will collaborate on a £ 2.017 million research project, on “Delivering inclusive financial development and growth in Africa”, funded under the DFID-ESRC Growth Research programme (DEGRP) Call 3 (2015/2016). The projet was launched on May 30, 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya during the Biannual Workshop of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC).
African Academy of Finance (AAFi)
The main mission of the African Academy of Finance (AAFi) is to build capacity in finance for African financial markets. The Academy AAFi will offer certifications to professionals aiming to practice one of the following financial professions: broker-dealer, financial planner, portfolio manager, investment counsellor, specialist in crowdfunding, specialist in Islamic finance, financial risk manager.
