Operationalization of the Côte d’Ivoire Commodity Exchange

Côte d’Ivoire, 2019-2020

Since January 2019, the Institute Soumaré of Finance has been supporting the Regional Securities Exchange (BRVM the French acronym) and the Ivorian Government, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER), in the operationalization and launch of the Agricultural Commodity Exchange of Côte d’Ivoire (BMPA-CI).

To this end, the Institute Soumaré of Finance has trained potential market players and developed the business plan for the future Commodity Exchange in 2019. Currently, the Institute acts as an execution agency for the implementation of the business plan and the effective opening of the Commodity Exchange in Côte d’Ivoire. In the implementation process, Professor Issouf Soumaré, President of the Institute, accompanied a delegation from the BRVM and MINADER on visits to the production and processing areas of cashew nuts, maize and cola within the country to inquire about the state of the production facilities for these agricultural products, which are to be the subject of the first transactions at the opening of the commodity exchange.
